Rugby Database is an entirely voluntary project created to establish a digital database of every first-class Rugby Union game played both in New Zealand and abroad by our National and Provincial team(s). To begin with.
This project has been put together by two individuals. One a genius web developer, the other a lover of rugby stats and history.
Basically, we care about rugby history in ways we do not for other sports.
We live in a digital world now, where people want information at the click of a button. It is the vast filing cabinet where all rugby numbers reside, waiting to be retrieved at your command.
The database is 'work in progress' with no defined finish date. We are inputting results as fast as we can. All while constantly researching New Zealand’s rich rugby heritage.
Seasons/Competitions are constantly being updated, so keep checking back to see how your team or favorite player’s career record is progressing.
Initially, the goal is simple. To create a reputable digital database of New Zealand related first-class rugby.
But in turn, this has already started semi-creating a footprint for other teams/nations/players, and with time this will expand to then include full records of overseas teams to ensure a full career record for the many NZ players that have ultimately ended up plying their trade offshore as well.
Basically, there is no site that has historical stats mixed in with the modern-day game. Until now.
The internet is the perfect form for an encyclopedia of sorts, a centrally updated location for all, with lots of good hyperlinking and infinite space available.
